The 1808 Foundation is excited to announce a groundbreaking five-year partnership with the ProGolf Association (PGA) that will significantly expand our community development initiatives across six continents.

This strategic alliance brings together the 1808 Foundation's expertise in community-based programs with the PGA's global reach and resources, creating unprecedented opportunities to use golf as a vehicle for positive social change.

Expanding Our Global Footprint

Through this partnership, the 1808 Foundation will establish new community golf programs in 20 countries over the next five years, with a particular focus on regions where access to organized sports and youth development programs is limited.

The initiative will include:

  • Development of 50 new community golf facilities designed to be accessible, sustainable, and multi-purpose
  • Training for 500 local coaches and program leaders
  • Scholarship opportunities for promising young golfers from underserved communities
  • Annual community tournaments that raise awareness and funds for local causes

More Than Just Golf

"This partnership isn't just about expanding access to golf," explains James Wilson, CEO of the 1808 Foundation. "It's about using the sport as a platform for addressing critical community needsโ€”from youth development and health promotion to environmental sustainability and economic opportunity."

Each community program will be tailored to address local priorities and challenges, with golf serving as the unifying element that brings diverse stakeholders together.

"Golf has the unique power to transcend boundaries and create common ground. When we combine that with intentional community development strategies, we can create lasting positive change." โ€” Maria Rodriguez, PGA Community Impact Director

Innovative Funding Model

The partnership introduces an innovative "play it forward" funding model, where participating PGA tournaments will designate a portion of proceeds to support community golf initiatives. Additionally, a new consumer-facing campaign will allow recreational golfers to contribute to the initiative through their everyday golf-related purchases.

The PGA has committed $10 million in initial funding, with the 1808 Foundation providing matching funds and program implementation expertise.

Environmental Commitment

All new facilities developed through the partnership will adhere to strict environmental standards, including:

  • Water conservation through efficient irrigation systems and drought-resistant landscaping
  • Use of sustainable materials in construction and maintenance
  • Creation of wildlife habitats and native plant areas
  • Community education on environmental stewardship

Getting Involved

The first phase of the partnership will launch in September 2025 with pilot programs in Brazil, Kenya, India, and the Philippines.

Golf professionals, community organizations, and potential corporate partners interested in supporting this initiative are encouraged to contact our partnership team for more information.
